Surendra's murder: Bengaluru police hit dead end
BENGALURU: Two weeks have passed since the sensational murder of businessman Paruchuri Surendra Kumar on October 30. But the police teams probing the case seem to have lost hopes of cracking the case as they have not got any leads.
Despite investigating the case from all angles, the police could not find any clues to take the investigations forward. "Starting from his personal life to business dealings, all aspects were investigated. So far, we have not got any major leads in the case. In most cases, we will get to know the reason for the murder within a few days, though the culprits may not have been caught. Once the motive is clear, we can take the investigation forward. But in this case, we don't even know the motive. This has disappointed us, but we have not lost all hopes," an official said, adding that most murder cases are generally solved in a week or two.
As part of the probe, the police had verified the cases filed by Mr Kumar and the cases filed against him. There were also allegations that Mr Kumar's former business partner, Kabil Saraswat, could be behind the murder. But none of these leads helped the police in knowing the motive behind the murder. Besides, the police had analysed the footage from several security cameras to identify the assailants, and had also analysed thousands of mobile phone numbers to track down the killers. None of these helped the police in getting a breakthrough.
The police, however, strongly suspect that it was a case of supari killing and the killers were hired from other states. Some of the staff members, who are part of the probe, expressed that chances of cracking the case are bleak as of now.
Paruchuri Surendra Kumar, 51, who ran Paruchuri Group and Paruchuri Global Foundation, was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in front of his house at 13th Cross of Hanumaiah Layout in Sanjaynagar on October 30 night. Six rounds from a revolver were shot at Mr Kumar, who was getting out of the car to go home, and he died on the spot.
