Police take TD-salaried graduate into custody for derogatory posts

Anantapur: Annamayya district police on Tuesday arrested a B. Pharmacy graduate for sending acrimonious and derogatory posts to 120–150 people every day.

Police allege Chinta Sudarshan, a native of Vathalur village in Pullampeta mandal residing in Rajampet Town had been working for a pharma company in Hyderabad. Due to health issues, he had to quit his job last year. Since then, he had been staying at home in Rajampet.

About six months ago, he came in contact with a TD follower and enrolled himself into a WhatsApp group sponsored by Telugu Desam as a member. Members of this group had to share the content they received with 120-150 people or groups. They would be paid Rs 8,000 per month in exchange.

Police said Sudarshan created multiple email IDs with different names, apart from fake Facebook accounts, some of them impersonating females. He used these to disseminate abusive and inciting content against institutions and political leaders.

Post Sudarshan’s arrest, his social media accounts have been blocked for violation of standards.

Police say they are investigating to identify members of the group who are creating such content.
