Kakinada: Three Town police of Rajamahendravaram have registered a case under Preventive Detention (PD) Act against 34-year-old Erra Sai Kiran alias Donga Sai alias Shooter Sai of Durga Nagar area in the city and sent him to jail.
Police arrested Sai Kiran after an order was signed in this regard by East Godavari district collector K. Madhavi Latha. He has since been jailed.
East Godavari superintendent of police P. Jagadish said six cases had been registered against him in the district, a murder case, two each ganja and theft cases and one bodily offence. There had been no change in his behaviour despite several legal actions taken against him. The collector thus signed an order to book him under the PD Act, so that he could be taken under preventive detention and jailed.
The SP said after he assumed charge as East Godavari SP, seven rowdy sheeters and blade batch criminals of the district have been sent to jail. He disclosed that surveillance has been organised against those who commit crimes without any attempt to reform themselves. Such persons will be expelled from Rajahmundry, he stated.
In all, police have bound over 439 blade batch and rowdy sheeters in the district.
