Three interstate ganja peddlers arrested, 360 kg ganja worth Rs 1 crore seized
Hyderabad: Three interstate ganja peddlers transporting a consignment of 360 kg ganja in an XUV from Andhra Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh were intercepted and arrested by Special Operation Team (SOT) L B Nagar and Abdulapurmet police. 360 kg ganja worth Rs 1 crore seized from ganja peddlers possession.
Based on a tip-off, both the teams got activated Wednesday night. They intercepted a Mahindra XUV 500 near Sampoorna Hotel on Abdullapurmet ORR. G Sudheer Babu disclosed in his first press meeting as Rachakonda police commissioner on Thursday.
The arrested accused were identified as Vikas Tyagi (29), Abrar (30), and Md Amiruddin (32), all natives of Uttar Pradesh.
The accused Vikas Tyagi, Abrar, and Amiruddin, who are good friends a few months back, came in contact with a ganja peddler(name not known) in Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh state and became his partners as he offered them a good share to transport the contraband, Sudheer Babu said.
The trio used to collect the contraband from the supplier in Rajahmundry and hand it over to the receiver at Meerut of UP, Sudheer said.
For each consignment, the accused used to collect their share amount from the main ganja ganja peddler, who is yet to be arrested, police said.
After the receiver in Meerut placed an order, the trio went to Rajahmundry in a Mahindra XUV 500, collected 360 kilograms of contraband, and headed towards Uttar Pradesh when arrested. They have successfully made four trips from Rajamundary via Hyderabad and delivered huge quantities of ganja in Meerut during the past three months, police said.
