₹1 lakh offered in naked puja case
VIJAYAWADA: Nallapadu police of Guntur urban have arrested 12 persons in the case wherein two women had to perform pujas while being naked. Both women have been rescued following a call they made on the Disha app.
According to SDPO Md. Mahaboob Basha, Nageswara Rao, the prime accused, sought a young woman who would sit naked and perform puja. He offered ₹1 lakh in exchange.
Following this, accused number four V. Nagendrababu passed on the information to Suresh, who conveyed the information to a girl. On May 8 night, the girl, Suresh, Kasim and Pedda Reddy came to Guntur by bus.
They called Nagendrababu, who came with Aravinda and Radha to Guntur in a car. When they all met at the Guntur bus stand, another girl with Pawan and Sagar arrived there. All of them stayed in a lodge that night.
The next day, May 9, prime accused Nageswara Rao arrived with his assistants Ravi, Subbu, Sunil and Shiva. All the people then went to the house of Nageswara Rao in Ponnekallu village. There, Nageswara Rao started the puja with the two girls who had to strip themselves naked.
It is stated that during the puja the prime accused sexually harassed the two women and tried to touch them inappropriately. As the two did not agree, the puja was stopped.
The next day, all the accused took the young women to Aravinda's house in Chilakaluripet, where they started the puja again with the two women going naked. Nageswara Rao once again sexually abused them. The women then tried to run away but were forcibly stopped by the accused.
Subsequently, when the two women were again taken to Ponnekallu, one of them called on the Disha app 112 while passing through Gorantla. Nallapadu police immediately intervened and rescued the two women.
Police took into custody prime accused Nageswara Rao, Aravinda, Radha, Nagendrababu, Bhaskar, Pedda Reddy, Sagar and others.
Guntur Urban district superintendent of police K. Arif Hafeez has congratulated the police team for rescuing the two women.
