Yet Another Suspicious Death of Student in IIIT Basara Campus
ADILABAD: Close on the heels of an incident in which a student died by suicide in a hostel toilet, a student died under suspicious circumstances on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Centre, IIIT Basara campus.
The police and university management said that the girl student died after falling from the fourth floor of the university building. The deceased was identified as Boora Likhita, a PUC first-year student in IIIT Basara from Gajwel in Siddipet district.
Police said that Likhita might have died by suicide and the case is being probed. Police shifted the body to Nirmal district government hospital for postmortem.
On Wednesday night, security staff found her lying in a pool of blood. Basar IIIT authorities told the media that Likitha’s death took place at around 2 am. It is said that Likita was watching videos on her phone.
Vice Chancellor Venkataramana said Nikita’s death was accidental and unfortunate. Meanwhile, Congress and BJP leaders gheraoed the Vice Chancellor over the incidents of student deaths in the campus.
Likitha’s father Rajaiah said the authorities informed them at around 2.40 am about the incident and the family came to Nirmal.
From Bhainsa government hospital, she was shifted to Nirmal government hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
This was the third student death in the last 48 days in the campus. Vadla Deepika of Sangareddy died by suicide in the bathroom just after appearing her physics examination on June 13.
