Hyderabad: Drunk rider, pal manhandle cops
Hyderabad: Saidabad police booked a duo on Sunday for scolding and assaulting officers who were conducting drunk driving checks under Charminar traffic police limits on Saturday afternoon. Reportedly, they were under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred at Champapet on Sa-turday afternoon when, according to the police, one Mohammed Raoof and his friend Moha-mmed Jahangir arrived on a two-wheeler (AP11 AU 3905). As a part of their protocol, the traffic officers stopped the duo to check the rider. Mohammed Raoof was found to be inebriated. Subsequently, they booked a drunk driving case against him.
Inspector B. Saiea-shwar Goud of the Charminar traffic police said, “The duo first scolded the officers and then manhandled them, so our staff lodged a complaint with the Saidabad police. The police has booked a case against the duo under Section 332 of the IPC. Further investigation is underway.”
The Charminar traffic police booked cases against 21 drunk drivers and detained their vehicles, including two-wheelers, four-wheelers and autorickshaws.
