KAKINADA: A woman reportedly beat her drunken husband to death using a tumbler (lota) in Ayinavillilanka village, Ayinavilli mandal, in Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. Police said that the wife took the extreme step, unable to bear the daily torture of her husband.
According to the Ayinavilli police, Isukupatla Ramakrishna, a daily wage labourer, had developed a habit of returning home intoxicated every night, causing disturbances and subjecting his wife to physical abuse. On Thursday night, he arrived home in an inebriated state and engaged in a prolonged argument with Satyanarayanamma. It is alleged that he even attempted to misbehave with their daughter.
Frustrated with her husband’s persistent misbehaviour, Satyanarayanamma resorted to violence. She struck him with a vessel and then used a round stone, typically used for preparing pickles and other culinary purposes, which resulted in Ramakrishna's immediate demise.
Ramakrishna had been married to Satyanarayanamma for 15 years, and the couple had two children.
Ayinavilli sub inspector S. Nageswara Rao has registered a case, and circle inspector D. Prashan Kumar is currently investigating the incident.
