Hyderabad: Police said that there was immense demand for deer meat in the city, as it is used in biryani. Because of this, many hunters were passing off dog meat as venison.
The police said that P. Karunakar, who was arrested for supplying venison in Hyderabad on Monday, while procuring meat in one instance, asked the hunter to display the legs of the animal to make sure it was venison. This was refused.
Following this, the deal was cancelled and later, the accused found that the gangs were passing off dog meat as venison to make a quick buck.
