Atmakur town police nab notorious criminal
Tirupati: Atmakur sub-division police have arrested a notorious criminal Deyyala Tirupataiah, 23, wanted in connection with multiple heinous crimes, including two gruesome murders and dacoities within the jurisdiction of various police stations in Atmakur and Gudur sub-divisions.
Addressing media in Nellore on Thursday, district superintendent of police Dr. K. Tirumaleswara Reddy, revealed that Tirupataiah, who rears pigs at Yerukalasani Nagar on the outskirts of Atmakur town, had fallen prey to temptations of criminal life.
With a history of crime, the accused attacked and killed a 72-year-old woman on September 3 this month in Battepadu village near Atmakur town for her gold chain. He used a stone as a murder weapon. In another incident, he murdered a 67-year-old woman in Kavali town, robbing her of her gold ornaments.
Following these two cases, Atmakur police formed special teams to track down and apprehend Tirupataiah. Their efforts paid off on Wednesday night when Tirupataiah was located in Kavali town, leading to his arrest.
During his interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in various criminal activities, citing allure of easy money as the primary motivation.
“Tirupataiah's criminal record is extensive, with multiple cases registered against him across various police stations, including Atmakur, Podalakuru, Kaluvoya and Jaladanki in Nellore district. Charges related to chain snatching and cattle theft have been registered against him in P.C. Palli and Gudluru police stations of Prakasam district,” the SP Tirumaleswara Reddy added.
