Nellore: A youngster, Sk Khadar Basha of Kovur, beat an elderly man to death after he failed to repay a borrowed sum of Rs 600. The incident occurred at Kovur on Friday.
The deceased, Pathan Chand Basha, 62, was a resident of the Stove Beedi Colony. Khadar Basha, who was living nearby, had been asking the man to repay the loan but the latter did not do it, police said.
On Friday, Khadar Basha was in an inebriated condition. He demanded that Chand Basha return his money immediately but the latter sought more time. Irked by his answer, Khader Basha thrashed Chand Basha and killed him, police said.
Police arrived at the scene after the locals made a call. They detained the accused who was “fully drunk.” Cops booked a case and shifted the body to the GGH in Nellore.
