Constable kills wife, 2 kids with service revolver
Hyderabad: An Armed Reserve (AR) constable, working as a personal security officer (PSO) at the Siddipet collector, allegedly killed his wife and their two children with a service revolver and died by suicide in Siddipet at his house on Friday. Police said that according to a preliminary inquiry, the constable, Akula Naresh, 35, had lost a huge amount of money on online betting.
The victims were identified as Naresh’s wife Chaitanya, 30, and their children Revanth, 6, and Rishitha, 5. Naresh hailed from Ramunipatla in Chinnakodur mandal of Siddipet, Chinnakonduru police said.
Police said that at about 10.30 am, Naresh brought his children back home from school. He called his wife Chaitanya into a room along with the children. Neighbours reported hearing the couple arguing and then the sound of a weapon firing.
Neighbours assumed that Naresh’s weapon had misfired, and rushed to his house only to find the bodies of the four persons. They called the police.
Police shifted the bodies to the government hospital for post-mortem, gathered clues from the house, and began inquiries.
Siddipet police commissioner Swetha Reddy said that Naresh had lost a large amount of money while betting online. This had led to quarrels between the couple. Police seized Naresh's mobile phone for further investigation.
