Two get 10-year imprisonment for murdering attender in Anantapur

ANANTAPUR: Anantapur District Sessions Court on Wednesday sentenced two persons to undergo imprisonment for 10 years for murdering an attender of the fisheries department in 2018.

According to the prosecution, Kallur Mohammad Khan had been working as an attendant in the office of fisheries department in HLC Colony of Anantapur. While he was on his way home after attending office on November 1, 2018, Patan Sheikshavali and Kambagiri Reddy waylaid him at a deserted place and demanded from him money to purchase liquor.

When Mohammad Khan refused to part with the money, the two attacked him with boulders and killed him.

One Town inspector S. Vijayabhaskar Reddy registered a case based on a complaint by the deceased’s son K. Shahansa Khan. Following investigations, police arrested Sheikshavali and Kambagiri Reddy.

District Sessions Judge G. Sreenivasulu pronounced judgment in the murder case, sentencing the two to undergo 10-year imprisonment and pay a fine of ₹5,000.

District SP Dr. Fakkeerappa Kaginelli said every SHO in the district has been entrusted with 10 cases, which they have to pursue and ensure punishment to the accused.
