KAKINADA: Police arrested two youth – Mukesh Kumar of Bithura village and Rohit Kumar of Bangai village, both in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh – for a theft at Ramachandrapuram on June 8.
Ramachandrapuram DSP T.S.R.K Prasad told reporters on Thursday that a bank customer Nallamilli Dhara Reddy of Machavaram village withdrew ₹3.55 lakh from his bank and locked the amount under the seat of his Activa bike. Later, he parked his bike at another ATM to withdraw some more money.
Meanwhile, two youth opened the bike seat with fake keys and took away ₹3.55 lakh.
The DSP said based on a complaint lodged by the victim, police arrested the two from UP on Thursday.
He said Mukesh and Rohit had come to Mandapeta to do ceiling works. They had been staying in a house they rented at Tapeswaram. They duo have confessed to committing other thefts, the DSP added.
