Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman was reportedly raped by a canteen employee at ESI Hospital Erragadda.
According to SR Nagar police, the incident occurred on Friday night at 10 pm on the hospital premises. The accused, who is said to be a chapatti maker at ESI, forcibly took the victim to a corridor and raped her.
The victim filed a complaint with SR Nagar police, leading to the registration of a case under Section 376 of the IPC against the accused, who is currently at large, according to police sources.
The woman, who was receiving treatment in the inpatient ward, had come for medical treatment with her brother a couple of days ago.
"We have recorded the victim's statement and registered a case of rape under Section 376 of the IPC. The victim has been sent for a medical examination," said V.R. Prasad Rao, SR Nagar police inspector.
Reliable police sources have disclosed that the canteen manager has been taken into custody for questioning, and the accused has been identified.
