Assam duo held with 3 kg of ganja in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Rachakonda police on Thursday arrested an Assam native Mohammed Abu Bakkar Siddik and his live-in partner Suhana Begum and seized 3 kg of ganja from them. They claim to have produced the contraband from one Salam, also a native of Assam, and were planning to sell to users in the Nacharam area, said DCP Malakjgiri D. Janaki.

“This is the first time Assam natives were caught with drugs. We are probing into all angles to dig deep into their activities,” Janaki said.

Siddik migrated to the city six years ago and working as a driver. Suhana Begum, who belongs to Siddik’s village, lost her husband in 2016.

A year ago, she came to the city and stayed with Siddik. To make quick money, the duo decided to sell ganja. They procured 3 kg of it for Rs 9,000 and were planning to sell it for Rs 30,000. Based on a tip-off, police raided their rented house in Nacharam and arrested them.
