Central agencies take note of land fraud
HYDERABAD: A complainant, on whose information an MRO was booked by the police for colluding with a realtor to sell government land as private plots, approached the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation against the accused.
Dastagir Shareef filed a complaint against MRO R.P. Jyoti for creating fake land deeds and partnering with EIPL Construction in Nagaram village of Maheshwaram mandal.
Sources in the ED said that there was clear evidence that the MRO misused her powers to make a profit by selling government land worth crores of rupees.
The Maheshwaram police already booked the MRO and six others on charges of forgery, fabrication, impersonation and misuse of powers.
Sources said that the accused used digital marketing to collect money on the promise of plots, making them liable to be booked for land pooling and under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
“The accused will be charged for abetment by persons, criminal conspiracy, public servant disobeying law with intent to cause injury, public servant disobeying direction under law, public servant framing an incorrect document with an intent to cause injury,” Asad Hassan, complainant Dastagir’s counsel, said.
Saying that the central agencies promised to take action, he also said that the High Court, in a writ petition, also sought a reply from the state revenue department.
