Hyderabad: CID arrests four persons in commercial tax irregularities case
Hyderabad: CID officials have arrested four persons for indulging in irregularities by creating fake challans of VAT.
K. Vijaya Kumar, Jaganti Rajaiah, S. Sailu, and Ch. Swarna Latha were arrested from different places and produced them before the special judge for SPE and ACB cases at Karimnagar.
CID officials said the staff of the Commercial Tax office in Bodhan had indulged in criminal breach of trust, forgery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy in 2012.
Simhadri Laxmi Sivaraj, his son Simhadri Venkata Suneel and the staff colluded with officers of the Commercial Tax department and created bogus challans for payments made by VAT payers, made false entries on the VATIS Portal and caused loss of Rs. 231.22 crore to the government exchequer.
Based on the report, Bodhan Town police registered a case in 2017 which was transferred to the CID for further investigation. So far, 17 accused have been arrested in the case.
CID officials led by investigation officer N. Shyam Prasad Rao, DSP, and his staff arrested four persons at different places and produced them before the court for judicial remand.
