Malkajgiri kidnap case detected, 13 YO rescued
Hyderabad: Malkajgiri police arrested four persons including the teenaged son of a Railway Protection Force officer, who had kidnapped a 13-year-old boy on Thursday evening for a ransom of Rs 2 crore from his father. Police handed over the victim to his family.
The arrested were identified as Sunkesula Ravi, Pasika Mahipal, Katkoori Dilip and an Intermediate student. Main accused Sunkesula Shiva is absconding. Police said the accused made only app-based internet calls to the father of the victim to avoid detection.
Investigators found the internet calls originating from a US-based number and approached the US’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for support. One of the boy’s relatives, residing in the USA, was not on good terms with the victim’s family, and this led the cops to investigate the US angle.
Malkajgiri DCP Dharavath Janaki said Shiva and Ravi had suffered losses in trading. They had twice earlier attempted to kidnapped the boy, and roped in the minor on Thursday evening.
The teen lured the victim to the car in which the accused were waiting. The gang kept moving constantly even as they negotiated with the victim’s family.
