Visakhapatnam: Five youngsters, who were posing as members of a gay club, were arrested by the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell on Sunday, for extorting money from a youth who wanted to join them.
The gang extorted Rs 2 lakh from the complainant after reportedly clicking pictures of him in a compromising position. The individuals arrested have been identified as M. Aditya, Ameeruddin Khan, P. Arun Kumar, U. Raviraj, and D. Jitesh.
D. Nagendra Kumar, the Joint Commissioner of Police, said that the compla-inant, Nani, (name changed) was a gay who had been looking for a male partner in Vizag.
He got acquainted with Aditya through a Facebook page in June. Aditya and his four friends hatched a plan to blackmail him. They went to Nani’s residence and got his photos in a compromising position and blackmailed him threatening to make the photos public, if he doesn’t pay Rs 2 lakh to them.
