Salon Owner Murdered, Cops Suspect Staffer

Hyderabad: A salon manager, Ashok, was murdered in Kukatpally on Sunday night, police said on Monday. The suspect is an employee, Pankaj, whom Ashok had sacked for diverting the salon’s customers to his own house. Ashok had hired Pankaj about four months ago.

Ashok's wife Neeraja told the police: "My husband went to the salon after lunch on Sunday afternoon. We can see the salon from our house. We noticed that it was closed after 10 pm but my husband had not returned. His phone was switched off when I tried to call him. We sent our son to the salon.” When the salon’s shutter was opened, they found Ashok lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds.

Kukatpally inspector M. Surender said the police had collected evidence at the spot, booked a case and began investigations.

Fire at Sports Shop, No Casualties

Hyderabad: Property worth Rs 15 lakh was gutted in a fire broke out in a sports shop in Vanasthalipuram early on Monday. The shop is located on the first floor of the three-storey building at 6.16 am, and the fire destroyed sports material, accessories, furniture and other articles.

Two fire tenders, DRF teams and Vanasthalipuram police helped the fire in about an hour. No one was injured. “We suspect that a short circuit at the main connection in the shop initiated the fire,” said Vanasthalipuram inspector D. Jalender Reddy.

Supplier Held With ‘Ecstasy’ Pills

Hyderabad: The LB Nagar special operations team arrested Solomon Susairaj, 29, a drug supplier from Balamrai, Begumpet and a consumer from Hasmatpet and seized 27 ecstasy pills from their possession. During interrogation Susairaj revealed that he had transported the contraband from Goa. The prime supplier, 'Favor', an African national, is at large, police said. Susairaj had been previously arrested in an NDPS case.
