Reformed criminal arrested again
Hyderabad: Nalgonda district police on Monday arrested one Seelamsetty Venkataramana, a reformed criminal who had lapsed back to crime.
Police said Venkataramana was earlier involved in more than 300 thefts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In 2014, he started a Mytri police tiffin centre in the city and ran it till 2019. That year, his shop was demolished for road widening. This was followed by the lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, which pushed him into a financial crisis.
Post pandemic, he and his wife started a business. When that was not doing too well, he took robbery again, police said. He committed 13 thefts in Nalgonda district. Police said that as a child, Venkataramana’s father Nageswar Rao used to beat him and force him to commit robbery.
