Three teens stabbed during Bonalu celebrations

HYDERABAD: Three 17-year-olds were stabbed by some teenagers following an argument during the Bonalu procession at Tarnaka in the early hours of Monday.

They had come to the temple separately with their respective processions.

Two boys were discharged after first-aid, while the third underwent surgery and is said to be out of danger. Osmania University police registered attempt to murder case and started an investigation. All of them were under heavy influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, police said.

According to police, around 12.40 am, a group arrived from Lalapet while another group came in a procession from Mettuguda. Both groups were involved in an argument. On duty police personnel intervened and had to disperse the youth twice. The scuffle took place at Tarnaka.

SHO Osmania University police station, J. Bhaskar said one of the boys from Mettuguda pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed someone from the other group. All of them were aged between 16 and 17 years. Further investigation is in process, he said.
