Karnataka Man Running Begging Racket in Hyderabad Nabbed
Hyderabad: In an attempt to control the menace of people under the guise of beggars harassing people on the city roads, task force sleuths took up a special drive and nabbed Anil Pawar hailing from Karnataka, who was running a begging mafia in the city. He hired people to work for him begging at junctions in different parts of Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills in the city and paid Rs 200 per person every day. 23 beggars were also detained for further investigation.
West Zone Task Force Inspector Mohd Khaleel Pasha said that they had take up the special drive with the support of GHMC officials, Operation Smile and caught 23 persons involved in begging from motorists at the junctions near KBR park and Jubilee Hills check post.
On inquiry, they revealed that they are working for Anil Pawar and he was collecting up to Rs 6,000 from those who were begging at Jubilee Hills check post alone every day. Police seized two bikes from him and also registered a case against him at Jubilee Hills PS for further investigation.
