Hyderabad: DNA helps cops crack woman's murder case
Hyderabad: DNA has once again proved how efficient it is in nabbing criminals in a murder case.
The human hair found at the crime scene helped crack a 70-year-old woman’s murder that occurred two weeks back. The accused allegedly took inspiration from a crime serial.
The LB Nagar police have identified the accused as Deenanath Tiwari, a native of Gagaura Gaon in Buxar, Bihar.
In a gruesome murder that had everything from animal sacrifice to sorcery, the body of Abbavathi Mallamma Pochampally was found in her house on November 8. The woman’s mouth was stuffed with animal meat. Based on the complaint filed by her son, a case was registered in Pochampally police station.
E. Ramchandra Reddy, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Bhongir Yadadri Zone said, “The accused used to watch CID, Crime Patrol and learnt ways of committing murder and how to conceal evidence. He sprinkled Vermillion powder over the victim’s face and body to wipe out his fingerprints. He also stuffed goat’s intestine in her mouth to divert police sniffer dogs. The accused took care of all angles and made it look like black magic.”
According to the police, the deceased was survived by a son and four daughters who are all married. The victim mostly stayed alone in her house. She used to visit Pochampally once a month to collect her pension. This time, her son accompanied her as it was Diwali and they stayed there for a couple of days. After the festival, her son and his family left, leaving her alone.
Tiwari took silver bangles from her hands, Rs 18,000 cash, and escaped with the booty. He transferred Rs 10,000 of that amount to his father and bought liquor. Police recovered six silver bangles and Rs 5000 cash from the accused.
The accused D. Ravindranath Tiwari came to Hyderabad in January-2018 along with his family in search of livelihood and joined a private company. He used to stay in a rented house located opposite the victim’s house. of deceased. the accused sent his wife to his native village Bihar. He and his friend one Radhey Shyam Gupta who was the tenant of the house of deceased planned to booze.
E. Ramchandra Reddy, narrated the series of event in the crime said, “On previous thursday the accused noticed that the deceased was alone in her house, he planned to commit theft in her house any account. Accordingly, he entered into her house and strangled the deceased to death. After confirming she was dead, he sprinkled vermilion (kumkum) colours on her body and stuffed the animal intestines in her mouth which he collected in front of his house. Further, he also poured sweet oil on her face with a view to screen the evidence”
