TIRUPATI: Thirty girl students fell ill reportedly due to food poisoning at the Kasturba school in Veeraballi of Rayachoti mandal in Annamaiah district on Thursday.
Responding to the incident, district collector P.S. Girisha ordered an inquiry into the episode.
According to sources, the girl students at the Veeraballi Kasturba school have complained that they were given stale food, which resulted in food poisoning. All the 30 girl students were rushed to the government hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, one of them was transferred to Rayachoti's government general hospital after her condition reportedly deteriorated.Parents and relatives of the girls who fell ill as a result of food poisoning staged protests at the school and the hospital, demanding that the school authorities be held accountable for the incident.
