Advocate harassing woman magistrate: HC raps police for inaction
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday took exception to the police inaction and its failure to initiate criminal action against an advocate (who was recently barred from practicing) at Ibrahimpatnam court for his alleged misbehaviour with a woman magistrate.
The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Jukanti Anil Kumar, was dealing with a suo motu petition taken up by the High Court based on the communication sent by the victim to the Chief Justice.
The complaint was that the advocate used to stare at her while she was performing her duties in the court hall and followed her wherever she went on official duty like conducting lok adalats.
The court had directed the Bar Council and the police concerned to take action. After collecting evidence about the advocate’s behaviour, the Telangana Bar Council put a stop to his practice.
But, the police failed to inform the court about the action taken by them against the advocate. The court directed the home department to apprise the cases initiated against him by the next hearing after four weeks.
