Hyderabad: ISIS man was mechanic, kin alleges NIA frame up
Hyderabad: The recently arrested ISIS conspiracy case suspect Mohammed Irfan was a vehicle mechanic in Bahadurpura. His family and friends said that Irfan was a harmless person who spent most of his time at the workshop.
Irfan’s brother Mohammed Sabir alleged that NIA had been forcing Irfan to be a witness in the case for several months; when he refused to obey, they arrested him.
“If they had evidence against him why didn't they arrest him in the last seven months? He was called to NIA office 20 times in the last few months, and was asked to be a witness in the case against the other eight suspects,” Sabir said.
Sabir said that Irfan was about to get married next month, but things have derailed with his arrest.
Meanwhile, NIA investigation officials said that Irfan collected the explosive precursors along with Mohammed Ilyas Yazdani from the outskirts of Pochampally village in Nalgonda district. They said Irfan and the other accused took part in the search for places for their physical training.
NIA officials said Irfan had specifically searched for a safe house on the outskirts of Hyderabad along with accused Muzaffer Hussain Rizwan.
Irfan, who had completed studies from Faizul Ulum, was brought up by his brothers as his parents had passed away when he was a child. "We brought him up like our son. After his studies he was working in my mechanic shop," said Sabir. “NIA officials repeatedly told him that if he testified against the other suspects, he would be released. If he does not obey he will be arrested,” Sabir alleged.
NIA officials had said that Irfan had taken an Oath of Allegiance to Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, the self proclaimed Caliph of the ISIS, in the presence of accused Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani and Muzaffer Hussain Rizwan and was given a Kuniya name, Abu Jafar by Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani.
