Ex-Army sepoy convicted of rape, attempt to rape minors

Hyderabad: A special POCSO Court in Hyderabad convicted former army man Brijesh Kumar Yadav, for raping a minor in 2017 and attempting to rape another minor in 2018, and sentenced him to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment in total,
levying a fine of ₹4.25 lakh.

The convict was a former sepoy in the Signal Regiment of the Indian Army at
the Secunderabad Cantonment. Both incidents took place near Ammuguda Railway Station, under the Trimulgherry police limits.

After the first offence, Yadav was absconding and he was caught red-handed
during the second offence in July 2018.

The police said that the convict targeted young couples in isolated areas
near the railway station. He used to claim to be the officer incharge of the
area, attack the boy and rape the girl, the police said.

The court pronounced its orders based on DNA profiling and test
identification parades, which proved his involvement in the offences.

A chargesheet was filed based on the victims’ complaints and they were
supported by the Bharosa Centre for travel, expenses and other assistance.
