2 CPM men held for twin murder
Kasargod: The twin murders of Youth Congress workers at Periya here were an act of political revenge by the CPM men, according to the FIR filed by the police.
YC workers Kripesh,19, and Sharath Lal, 21, natives of Periya, were hacked to death at Kallyot at 8.30 p.m. on Sunday.
The police has taken two CPM men into custody and they were being interrogated. Two motorbikes too were seized. The special investigation team, headed by crime branch DySP M. Pradeep Kumar, thinks that the murders were committed by a professional team. "The injuries on the bodies were deep and wide.
Kripesh's skull was split with a deep cut. The killers ensured the death of the two," said a cop. The police has sought the help of their Karnataka counterparts to catch the culprits.
Both victims had received threats from the local CPM leadership over a political issue which started off at Munnad People's College recently. Sharath Lal was released on bail recently in a case of attacking a CPM local leader. Kripesh had filed a police complaint earlier this month over the threat he received.
Both the victims are from a humble background and they did not have any criminal past.
