Rajahmundry: A woman allegedly strangulated her two daughters to death before committing suicide by hanging herself at her home at Mogaltur in West Godavari on Monday.
According to Mogaltur police, Nallimilli Lakshmi Prasanna, 28, hailing from Alamuru village in East Godavari, was married to Venkata Ramanjaneyulu around nine years back. The couple had two daughters, Sri Lakshmi, 8, and Jhanavi, 5. Ramanjaneyulu looks after the family business of running a rice mill in the village.
On Monday evening, Ramanjaneyulu returned home from work and found the door bolted from inside. He called his wife to open but there was no response. The man, with the help of neighbours, opened the door and found the two girls lying dead on the bed and their mother was found hanging from the fan.
A preliminary inquiry into the incidence suggested that family disputes led to the woman resorting to the extreme step of killing herself and her two daughters. Police booked a case and investigation is on.
