Two held for operating illegal hookah parlour in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: West Zone Task Force police raided a hookah parlour Resto Lounge Cafe on the premises of Silver Oaks apartment near Masab Tank, arrested two organisers and seized a banned substance worth Rs 1.20 lakh.
The accused were found operating the parlour without a licence. The accused, Syed Bilal and Syed Abdul Kadhar were found providing the facility without relevant permission from the police.
Police officials seized 27 hookah pots, 53 smoker coil boxes, 50 flavours and other goods worth Rs 1.20 lakh.
During interrogation, Bilal revealed that he decided to start a hookah parlour with his brother Kadhar to make easy money. Bilal also dumped large quantities of coal and other hookah items, which are highly flammable and may result in fire accidents, without any regard for safety precautions.
Police booked the accused for violating the guidelines under COTPA Act and the Hyderabad City Police Act and handed them along with the seized property to Humayun Nagar police for further action, city task force DCP P. Radha Kishan Rao stated in a press release.
