Rowdy killing in Vijayapura: Four police officials arrested
Belagavi: The mysterious killing of notorious rowdy from Bheema river belt near Vijayapura, Gangadhar Chadchan has taken a new twist with the investigating police team arresting four police officials. Soon after the investigation into Chadchan's death was handed over to CID, police sub-inspector Gopal Hallur and senior constables Siddarush Rugi, Chandrashekhar Jadhav and Gaddeppa Naikodi were arrested in connection with the case.
Prior to the arrest of the three cops, another police team headed by IGP of Northern Range, Alok Kumar had taken up an investigation into the same case for two days before handing it over to the CID. During the preliminary investigation, Hanamant Pujari and Sidagondappa Tikkundi, main accused in the Chadchan murder had made a sensational revelation that Gangadhar Chandchan was handed over to them by police officials. The case took a new turn after this as the police department decided to hand it over to the CID for investigation, according to police sources.
The CID team headed by DySP Janardhan and Police Inspector M A Mohammad rushed to Vijayapura and arrested the four policemen. The arrested police officials were taken to the spot where Chadchan was allegedly killed under mysterious circumstances and where he went missings. The arrested, Gopal Hallur and the other three accused were taken for a medical test after the arrest and later produced in a local court at Indi town, near Vijayapura. The court remanded Hallur to judicial custody until June 28. Gangadhar Chadchan was allegedly involved in several cases. He was the brother of Dharmaraj Chadchan, one of the notorious criminals in the Bheema river belt.
