Hyderabad: The Sadasivapet police in Sangareddy on Sunday arrested eight persons for assaulting a couple, who allegedly performed black magic, and hanging them from a tree in Kolkur village.
The police, identifying the couple as Yadaiah and Amrutalamma, said that their neighbour Dayadi, whose family was unwell for a week, approached a black magic ritualist for a remedy. He, in turn, claimed that Dayadi’s neighbours had cursed them.
“Suspecting Yadaiah and Amrutalamma, Dayadi and villagers on Saturday called the couple to the panchayat office and assaulted them. Later, the couple was hanged from a tree near the panchayat office and assaulted by Dayadi. Upon receiving information, the Sadasivpet police reached Kolkur and rescued Yadaiah and his wife,” a police official said.
The couple was shifted to a government hospital and their health condition is stable. On their complaint, the police booked Dayadi and seven others on Saturday night.
