Guntur: Thieves killed man, burnt body for cash
Guntur: Chilakaluripet Urban Police solved the mystery behind the murder of Nallamalupu Subbulu, 75. It was found out that two people, who were suspects in the case, burnt Subbulu’s body after killing him and then stole his gold and cash.
According to Chilakaluripet police, the incident happened on September 4, when Sk. Kallem, 28, and Yerram Setty Danraj, 21, both workers at the local market, murdered Subbulu who worked as a daily labourer to rob a gold chain worth of Rs 1,20,000 from him. They tied the body in a gunny bag, carried it an Activa vehicle and burnt it with petrol.
Motorists who saw the burning body informed the police who identified the deceased as Subbulu. Police on September 11 suspected Sk Kallem’s involvement and tried to question him. He committed suicide by taking pesticide while the other accused, Dhanraj, surrendered to police on Monday.
