Woman kidnaps boy for ransom, murders him
Tirupati: A woman's plot to make money by kidnapping a boy ended in the tragic death of the eight-year-old. The murder came to light when police recovered the body of the victim Hanish near B.N. Kandriga mandal in Tirupati district on Monday.
Police said the key suspect Rekha is originally from Kambakam panchayat in Varadaiahpalem mandal. She had married and settled in Pallewada, Tamil Nadu. She got accustomed to a luxurious lifestyle. She hatched a plan with a man Ramanaiah and his friend to kidnap eight-year-old Hanish, who lived opposite her residence in Pallewada.
Rekha and her accomplices abducted the boy and demanded a ransom from the boy's parents. However, when the word of kidnapping spread, they allegedly murdered Hanish to avoid being prosecuted for the crime. They put Hanish’s body in a sack and discarded it in the thickets near Karanamitta along the Srikalahasti-Tada Road.
Tamil Nadu police, who registered and investigated the case on a complaint by Hanish's parents, tracked down Rekha and her accomplices in coordination with Andhra Pradesh police.
They have taken possession of the murdered boy’s body and sent it for autopsy. Rekha and two of her accomplices have been detained on suspicion of murdering Hanish to cover up their kidnap plot.
