NELLORE: In a ghastly incident, a woman killed her husband, cut his head, and surrendered with it at the police station in Renigunta town of Chittoor district on Thursday morning.
People on the road took to their heels in panic, noticing the woman in bloodstained clothes carrying a severed human head oozing blood. Even staff at the police got taken aback when she arrived to surrender herself.
The incident has sent shock waves in Renigunta.
Police have identified the woman as Sribhasyam Vasundhara, 46-year-old native of Giddalur in Prakasam district. The deceased is Sribhasyam Ravichandra Suri, aged 53, of Narasaraopeta, a private employee in Renigunta.
The woman attacked her husband with a knife after heated arguments over his repeated claims on the property of her parents. Allegedly, she was also suspicious about his extramarital affairs.
Renigunta circle inspector Ch. Anju Yadav disclosed that Vasundhara had been worried over the future of her 20-year-old son, whose mental growth is not in line with his age.
The woman confessed to police that she took the extreme step as she was doubtful about the future of her son and family owing to the attitude of her husband.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
