Vijayawada: Two inter-district burglars held, valuables recovered
VIJAYAWADA: NTR Vijayawada police on Thursday arrested two inter-district burglars and seized 672 grams of gold and 11.842 kg silver ornaments from them, all worth ₹25 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Vantharam Siva Kishore of Rajam in Vizianagaram district and Balivada Ramesh belonging to Gopalapatnam in Visakhapatnam. Both the accused are relatives, with Siva being a habitual offender.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (Crimes) P. Venkata Ratnam said Governorpet police received a complaint from a house owner on Gopalreddy Road that after he and family had gone to Shirdi on January 13, someone broke door locks of their house and stole gold and silver ornaments kept in a locker.
On directions of NTR Vijayawada police commissioner Kanti Rana Tata, special teams had been formed to investigate the case. Investigations revealed that one of the accused Siva broke into the house and took away gold and silver ornaments to Visakhapatnam, He approached his relative Ramesh offering a share after selling the ornaments. The two went to Rajamahendravaram to sell the ornaments, but could not succeed.
They then came to Vijayawada and tried to sell the stolen ornaments in Sivalayam street area when police took them into custody and recovered the stolen ornaments.
