Telangana: Man kills wife before kids, surrenders
Hyderabad: A man murdered his wife before his kids and surrendered before Shankarpally police on Sunday night.
The accused Odula Srikanth, after a heated argument with his wife Odula Saritha and strangled her to death.
Shankarpally police said that Srikanth confessed that he had murdered his wife at his Kothapalli village at 10.30 pm and surrendered before police at 11.30 pm.
Srikanth was in an inebriated condition when he murdered his wife, before his five-year-old son Varshit and three-year-old daughter Vanita, police said.
Vanita and Varshit did not know that their mother had already died, so they tried to wake her up and went to Srikanth’s mother crying for help. The kids were sent to victim Saritha’s parents house, police said.
Saritha, 25, a native of Kothagudem village, was married to Srikanth seven years back. Six months after marriage Srikanth started harassing his wife mentally and physically in an inebriated condition.
Fifteen days back after a quarrel with Srikanth, Saritha had gone to her parent’s house. Two days back Srikanth went to his in-laws and insisted them to send his wife but they refused to send her, police said.
Srikanth, then returned to his house in Kothapalli village, tried to hang himself. On the following day, the accused Srikanth's mother called Saritha and warned her if she did not return her son Srikanth would divorce her. Saritha along with Vanita and Varshit came to Srinath’s house Sunday afternoon.
Around 10.30 pm the accused came in an inebriated condition, murdered her and surrendered before police. Police registered a case of murder under 302 IPC against Srikanth and remanded him to judicial custody on Monday. The victim’s body has been shifted to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem.
