Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested 12 persons for running an IPL 2023 betting racket at Petbasheerabad and seized ₹ 50 lakh cash and material. On getting a tip-off, the special operations team and Petbasheerabad police raided two hotels and caught the accused red-handed.
The kingpin Ayyappa from Andhra Pradesh and four more bookies are absconding.
Police found a deposit of ₹ 3.29 lakh in one of their bank accounts and froze it. They also seized laptops, mobile phones, live boards used for connecting punters and four vehicles, all worth ₹ 1.41 crore from them, said DCP (Medchal zone) G. Sandeep.
