PD Act invoked against 2 property offenders in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: As part of the ongoing drive against those involved in disturbing public order, Cyberabad police commissioner Stephen Raveendra on Saturday invoked the PD Act against two notorious property offenders.

Mohammed Nasir was involved in more than 45 property offences in different police limits of Telangana state during 2019-2020.

Mohammed Nasir alias Nasir and Samoon alias Mohd Samoon Khan, both from Rajasthan, had on January 23 opened fire with a country-made pistol and robbed Rs 2,08,000 from the cashier of a wine shop at Uddammari village in Shamirpet.

The cashier escaped unhurt and the police arrested the accused and remanded them to judicial custody.

With a view to preventing them from indulging in further criminal acts, the police commissioner invoked the PD Act against the accused and detained them in Central Prison, Cherlapalli, Medchal district, a press release issued by the Cyberabad police commissioner stated.
