Man beats minor son, wife with leather belt
Bengaluru: Father’s Day on Sunday turned out to be a nightmare for a 14-year-old boy, who was allegedly brutally beaten up by his father. The victim, Yaqoob (name changed), was taken to a hospital the next day and was treated for his injuries on his neck, head and shoulder.
An FIR was registered against his father, Sayyed Sageer, 55, under Sections 506, 498A, 324 and 504 of the IPC by the J.C. Nagar police on Monday.
The boy’s mother, who is the complainant, alleged that Sayyed, who works in Saudi Arabia, has an illegal passport. He came to the city on June 16 to celebrate Eid with his family. She said, “We have been married for 21 years, but he has many illicit relationships and he tortures us. On June 17, he picked up a fight with me over a trivial issue and started beating me with his leather belt. When my elder daughter tried to intervene, she was hit too. Then he started shouting saying he would send the children to a hostel. On Sunday night, when our son tried to talk to him, Sayyed brutally assaulted him,” she said.
The boy said, “My father has been torturing us for a long time. We were trying to come to terms with it, but we could not take it this time. I suffered injuries on my head, neck and shoulder. The medico legal case was registered on Monday.”
Sayyed is absconding and the police have formed a team to trace him.
