Pillion-rider kills scooterist by lethal injection on his thighs
Khammam: In a strange case, a 55-year-old man, who offered a lift to an unknown person on his two-wheeler, is dead after the pillion rider administered a lethal injection on the victim’s thy while riding the vehicle.
The incident took place in a deserted place between Banapuram and Vallabhi in Mudigonda mandal on Monday, police said.
The victim, Jamal Saheb, was a resident of Buddaram in Chintakani mandal. He was on his way to Gandrai village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh to be with his daughter residing there.
An unknown person raised his hand and asked him for a lift. Jamal Saheb stopped his two-wheeler and offered him his pillion seat.
Along the way, the pillion rider administered lethal medicine to Jamal. Jamal suspected something and stopped the vehicle. He fell to the ground and the conman escaped from the scene by getting on to another two-wheeler coming from the Banapuram side, police said.
Possibly, the accused and the person in the second vehicle were acting in unison, police suspect.
Passersby noticed Jamal falling on the ground and they took him to the primary health centre in Vallabhi. The duty doctor administered glucose and tested him. However, Jamal died at the PHC.
Doctor Dharmendra of the PHC said, “A person will die if he is administered an overdose of anesthesia medicine propofol or ketamine. Cardiac arrest may take place in some cases.”
The body of Jamal Saheb was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Khammam for post-mortem.
Mudigonda police said, “A post-mortem was done and the final report is awaited. The doctors did not come to a conclusion as to which fatal drug was administered to the deceased. They want to take the help of a forensic lab to identify this.”
Meanwhile, the doctors did the autopsy and sent a report to the MGM Hospital in Warangal.
The police found an empty syringe at the spot where Jamal fell down and they would send this to the forensic lab.
There were reports that the conman wore a mask while requesting help from the deceased. The police started an investigation to find out whether anyone who had a personal rivalry with Jamal was involved in the act. Visuals from the closed circuit cameras in the region were being checked to identify the assailant.
