Drug bust at SCB Maharanipeta Station, five arrested with 28 kg of Ganja
Visakhapatnam: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, authorities at Maharanipeta Station apprehended five individuals on Monday, seizing a total of 28 kilograms of ganja. Among the arrested were three adults from Maharashtra and two minors from Padua, Odisha.
The operation was conducted by the station house officer of the Special Enforcement Bureau station in Maharanipet.
The individuals were taken into custody. Due to legal constraints protecting the identity of minors involved in criminal cases, the details of the two individuals from Padua, Odisha, have not been disclosed. Alongside the significant drug seizure, authorities also confiscated five cell phones believed to be associated with the illegal drug trade.
The accused adults are expected to face charges related to drug trafficking, while the minors will be handled according to the procedures outlined in the juvenile justice system. Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the extent of the drug network and any potential connections to organised crime.
