Hyderabad: The nephew of an AIMIM corporator was stabbed to death in
Moinpura, Edi Bazar under Bhavaninagar police station limits on Monday
evening.
Police said 21-year-old Syed Murtaza Anas, a student of Anwarul Uloom
College and nephew of Lalitha Bagh AIMIM corporator Ali Shareef Azam, was
stabbed to death by unidentified persons inside the corporator's office. The
attackers stormed into the AIMIM corporator’s office in Mominpura, adjacent
to the Anmol hotel, at 5 pm when Anas was by himself and the other AIMIM
party members had gone to a meeting.
After a heated argument, the attackers repeatedly stabbed Anas in the neck,
throat, and abdomen before escaping. Anas was rushed to the Owaisi hospital,
but was declared dead.
“We are reviewing the CCTV footage in Lalitha Bagh. The accused came on
bikes. We suspect that the murder was motivated by animosity over property
disputes,” the police said. Police discovered the weapon used in the crime
and sent it to FSL for analysis. Meanwhile, two accused reportedly
surrendered before the Bhavaninagar police and confessed to the crime.
