Jawaharnagar police intensify patrol after minor girl’s body found in lake

HYDERABAD: Jawaharnagar police have intensified frisking operations in Ambedkarnagar, especially the surrounding areas of Ambedkarnagar cheruvu following the drowning of 10-year-old Indu, a class IV student from Domailguda high school. Her body was retrieved on December 16.

Police personnel, as part of frisking, are also gathering information about marijuana addicts near the lake.

“Our team has intensified patrolling, especially patrolling on foot and patrol bikes. After Indu’s death, we have arrested 13 locals and seized 2.5 kg of marijuana from their possession”, said K. Chandrasekher, inspector of
Jawahar Nagar police station.

The main drawback in solving Indu’s case is that there are no CCTV cameras
on the one km from Domailguda high school to the Ambedkarnagar lake. One of
the three CCTV cameras on the main road connecting Ambedkarnagar residential area to the high school captured the victim going towards the muddy road connecting the lake, the officer said.

People are making false allegations that if there was foul play in Indu's drowning by now we would have arrested the criminals, the officer said.

Meanwhile, Indu’s vaginal swab reports have been sent to FSL for examination.

Normally FSL does not collect the swab they did so as the victim was a minor. Once the body comes in contact with water, there are chances that external evidence may be lost, a retired associate professor of government hospital said.
