Haveri: A man was abducted and assaulted after his nephew eloped with a girl in Mudenur village of Haveri district. The man was stripped and assaulted by the woman's family members.
According to police reports, the youngsters eloped after the girl's family opposed their relationship. Though both of them belong to the same caste, the girl's family was against the relationship and arranged her marriage with another boy.
After the couple eloped, the infuriated girl's family members the boy's uncle and asked him to bring the girl back. Later, they abducted the man, allegedly thrashed him, stripped him, and abandoned him near Ranebennur rural police station.
Based on a complaint filed by the man's family, the police registered a case and booked 15 people. The girl's family also filed a complaint with the police, based on which another case has been registered.
Meanwhile. the girl and boy got married and sought police protection.
