The body of a pregnant woman who died during delivery was not allowed into her village because of the superstition that a person dying on Amavasya day will bring ill luck to the village.
Guntur: In a tragic incident a tribal woman delivered a dead infant baby boy on the road after being refused admission in the government hospital at Macharla in Guntur district on Saturday.
J. Tirupatamma’s relatives said that they had then taken her to other private hospitals at Macharla but all the hospitals denied admission stating that her condition was critical. Instead they suggested that she be taken back to the government hospital.
The relatives said that after four hours of running to nearly every hospital in the vicinity, they went back to government hospital and started begging the doctors and staff to grant admission. While they were still trying to convince the hospital staff and doctors, the lady gave birth.
