Mystery shrouds death of two-month-old boy found dumped in sump
Hyderabad: A 23-year-old woman on Sunday lodged a complaint with Uppal police that her two-month-old son Abdul Rehman was thrown by someone in a sump with an intention to kill him.
Sana Begum found her son injured in the sump at her house in Gandhi Nagar, Uppal, late Saturday night.
She stated that he was alive when she rushed him to Suraksha hospital in Uppal and later to Niloufer hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment, Uppal police said.
She informed the police that her husband Mohsin, working in HMWS had gone to work on a night shift. Around 10.30 pm, she, her son Abdul Rahman and aunt Qumar Begum, Arshiya and Fousia Begum slept in a room.
When she got up at 2 am, she noticed that Rehman was not beside her. They all searched the entire house and found her son in the partially filled water sump, police said.
Uppal police registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 CRPC and shifted the victim's body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.
