Crime files: Jubilee Hills police question Bigg Boss Telugu season-7 winner
Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills police who arrested Bigg Boss Telugu season-7 winner Pallavi Prasanth in Gajwel on Wednesday night questioned him and recorded his statement. He was remanded for 14-day judicial custody.
He and his associates were booked for going on a rampage near Annapurna Studios after the final of the event on December 17, destroying public property and vandalising the car of runner-up Amardeep Chowdhary, Jubilee Hills sub-inspector Chandra Shekhar said.
Police also arrested 16 fans of Prasanth, four of whom were minors. “We will record their statements and produce them before the court,” said Jubilee Hills ACP K. Hari Prasad.
Locksmiths decamp with 488 grams of gold jewellery
Hyderabad: Two unidentified locksmiths diverted the attention of a 75-year-old man and looted 488 grams of gold jewellery kept in the almirah in his house in Kalyannagar Phase-1, police said on Thursday.
Madhuranagar police said the victim P. Suryanarayana Raju had placed the jewellery in an almirah after a function, but misplaced the keys. He called the two locksmiths to prepare duplicate keys on December 9.
Police said the duo claimed they were unable to open the almirah. They returned the next day and offered to try to prepare duplicate keys again. While they were at work, they asked Raju to bring some water.
They again said they were unable to open the lock, collected '200 as service charge and left, police said.
Raju then called another locksmith to make a duplicate key to open the almirah. This time he succeeded. But, upon opening the almirah, Raju found the jewellery box missing.
Police suspected the duo of robbery and have launched a search for them.
Degree student dies by suicide
Karimnagar: A 19-year-old first year degree student died allegedly by suicide at her hostel room at the TS Social Welfare Girls Residential College (TSSWGRC) in Nagunuru village on Thursday. Police said the reasons for the suicide of Srujana of Gangipalli village in Manakondur mandal were not known.
She did not attend the classes, informing her friends that she was feeling sick, police said. When no one was in her room she died by suicide.
Srujana’s parents who rushed to hospital on being informed by the college management of the incident said that their daughter did not have any health issues. They demanded that the police inquire from Srujana's friends and the hostel staff to find out the reasons for the death of their daughter.
Members of student organisations along with the Srujana's relatives reached the government hospital and staged a dharn demanding immediate action against the college principal and hostel staff for their negligence.
Burnt body of former rowdy sheter found in Ziaguda
Hyderabad: The burnt body of K. Anil Reddy, 40, an ex-rowdy sheeter of Ziaguda, was found in a lane in Imamwada, Kulsumpura police said on Thursday. The police were tipped off about the body by locals.
Upon investigation it was found that Reddy had consumed liquor along with one P. Gopi, a rowdy-sheeter from Kulsumpura. They began quarrelling and Gopi pushed Anil Reddy to the ground and murdered him.
Police said they had opened a rowdy-sheet in 2012 against Anil Reddy and closed it in 2021 due to his good behavior. Since then Anil Reddy was working as a contractor. Police suspected previous enmity as the reason behind the murder.
Musheerabad police arrest 50-year-old for 32 burglary cases
Hyderabad: Musheerabad police arrested 50-year-old Rayapati Venkat Rao of resident for 32 house burglary cases and recovered 21.14 tola at his instance. He had committed his latest theft on November 28 at the house of an assistant professor, M, Debora, in Bakaram when the family was away. Police said Venkat Rao stole 23.2 tolas gold ornaments, Rs 93,000 cash and bank ATM cards.
Police arrest two people for selling fake certificates
Hyderabad: The LB special operations team police arrested Mudam Ravi, owner of MR Study Circle at Ramnagar, and Syed Nowshad, owner of Vikas Study Circle of Jaipur, for selling fake certificates to a customer. Police said the duo said they were selling fake educational certificates at between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.5 apiece. The from Punjab is absconding. Police seized 43 fake certificates, letters of recommendation, graduation certificates, fake memorandum of marks of Capital University, Jharkhand, VBS Purvanchal University in UP, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management Delhi and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth at Varanasi.
